This short story is about a small little boy called Joseph who lives in the country. His Dad works away in London, so he does not see him very often and his Mum has to look after him most of the time. When his dog, Jess goes missing Joseph gets the urge to climb the elm tree at the back of the garden, but as he climbs he discovers the strange engraving which reads ‘CLIMB NOT’ but will he heed the warning or will he climb the tree anyway?
My favorite character in the book is Joseph because he is quite a peculiar character as it is hard to try and figure out what he is thinking.
I liked this story because it is scary but not too scary and it makes you want to keep reading. The style of writing is also very good because it is in the third  person but it also gives an insight into Joseph’s mind and what he is thinking and feeling as the story goes along.
I would recommend this book to people in my age range and other age ranges above because it is a gripping read and will make you never want to put it down. Most of the stories end on a cliffhanger so it leaves you to imagine what really happens in the end.
This is a cartoon strip I made on my computer which tells the basic story of 'Climb Not '.
