The Demon bench end

The Demon Bench End

This book is about a small boy called Thomas Haynes who is lumbered with a demon bench end after his Dad takes a fancy to it when they see a tinker in town. His dad is rather rude to him and later on in the day he approaches Thomas and gets him the bench end, but after a series of horrifying events where will the bench end take him?
My favourite character in the book was the tinker because at the beginning of the story he is quiet and enclosed but as the story progresses and he passes the bench end on to Thomas he opens up to him. He tells Thomas little bits about himself and what the bench end does to you. I also felt sorry for Thomas because when the bench end is in control of him it tells him some really nasty things and makes him do some brutal deeds.
I liked this story because although some of it was quite gory it had a good story line. The characters were interesting to read about and it was intriguing when Thomas's father showed such an interest in the bench end and it made you wonder what was so special about it. When you found out that the bench end was cursed it changed your views on the story.
I would recommend this story to both boys and girls because the style of writing it is written in shows that the author has thought carefully about it. It also ends on a cliffhanger which makes for a very exciting ending.

When I was searching online I found a home made trailer on Youtube for all the short storys in uncle montagues tales of terror, check it out!
